Jeremiah 29: 11-14

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you."

Happy Birthday Connor!

Today is Connor's birthday. He was born seven years ago today at 4:34 in the morning. (Ironically I woke up at about 4:00 this morning and was never able to go back to sleep.)

In some ways it is so hard to believe that he is already seven. And then in others I can't believe he's overcome so much in only seven years.Today he is a bright, sparkle-eyed little boy who loves reading, math (YES!), gymnastics, and especially Chick-fil-A (No, we are not paid for all of our advertisements.) He has made many new friends this year...especially Max (whom he goes to speech with at school.) He absolutely adores his teacher, Mrs. Waddell, and would do probably anything on earth that she asked of him. Connor is gradually learning to play some basketball (with the help of Mason and Daddy) and he still loves to swing the bat (as long as Kate fetches all the balls). He is a great big brother...he tolerates Kate's singing and constant talking and he loves to make Ethan laugh! Actually, he keeps us all laughing!

And to state it very simply.....he makes me stand in awe. I stand amazed this morning....of a God so big and mighty that He can take a little boy like Connor Payne ....and work nothing short of miracle after miracle in his life. Having Connor has brought me closer to Jesus. Even though I am a control freak, there were so many things in his life I had absolutely no control over. So many things I couldn't "fix". But with God's grace, prayer, and lots of therapy....anything is possible! For anyone who may read this who has a child labeled "special needs" let me just encourage you this morning...never give up. Never settle for second best for your children. Always ask "why" and "what are our options". Never be afraid to try something new. And be willing to go out of your comfort zone. And never be afraid to let the "grizzly bear" come out when it comes to standing up for you child. Always tell them you love them. Always tell them anything is possible with God's help. And never, never, give up hope.

Happy Birthday Connor! May the Lord continue to have His face shine upon you. May you one day call Him your Savior. May He continue to bless you...with faith, family, friends, and laughter. May you never give up...but always persevere. I pray your eyes never loose their sparkle. And may you continue to strive to do your very best...always and in everything. And thank you, for everything you have taught me and for bringing me closer to Jesus. I love you, son. Momma
