Connor To Be Awarded...

I received a phone call yesterday from the principle where the boys go to school (that was a FIRST). But she told me right away that she was calling with incredibly GREAT news. So, I told her I would then accept her call! HA!

She proceeded to inform me that Connor is receiving a very special award. Apparently the teachers in each grade level nominate a boy and girl (I think) from their class that they feel is an exceptional student that stands above the rest. Then, the superintendent of the MISD selects one student from each grade to receive the Superindendent Award. And, for the first grade he selected Connor Payne!

She said it's a pretty big deal. We have to take him to the next school board meeting, which will be the week after Spring Break. The superintendent will call him up during the meeting and award him a trophy. Mrs. Varner (the principal) will be there and she encouraged all of our family to come as well. A photographer will be present and will be taking his pic for the newspaper.

Wow! To say we were surprised is an understatement. Usually, Mason is the one in the house to receive recognition...both academically and in sports. And the fact that Connor was chosen from among so many...the child who has overcome soooo many obstacles in his seven years....will receive an award that he earned....all on his own...that no one in this household has ever gotten. To think that only 3 or 4 years ago I would have NEVER imagined that this child would ever be successful in the public school system.

And make no mistake about it...we owe soooo many thanks to his teacher, Mrs. Waddell. She has taken that child under her wing and is teaching him to fly.

I only have one thing left to say...

"Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to Him be glory.....for ever and ever! Amen." Eph. 3:20-21
